Saudi Arabia’s Energy Minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, announced on Monday that Saudi Aramco has made significant discoveries in the Kingdom’s Eastern Province and Empty Quarter. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), these discoveries include two unconventional oil fields, a reservoir containing light Arabian oil, two natural gas fields, and two natural gas reservoirs.

In the Eastern Province, discoveries include the “Ladam” unconventional oil field, where the Ladam-2 well yielded approximately 5,100 barrels per day of very light Arabian oil, accompanied by about 4.9 million standard cubic feet of gas daily. Another notable find in the Eastern Province is the “Al-Farouk” unconventional oil field, producing Arab ultra-light oil at a rate of 4,557 barrels per day, with gas production reaching 3.79 million standard cubic feet per day. Additionally, the “Unayzah B/C” reservoir in the “Mazalij” field was discovered, yielding 1,780 barrels per day of Arab Light oil and 0.7 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.

In the Empty Quarter, the “Al-Jahaq” field saw natural gas discoveries in the “Al-Arab-C” and “Al-Arab-D” reservoirs at rates of 5.3 million and 1.1 million standard cubic feet per day, respectively. The “Al-Katuf” field also yielded natural gas and condensate from the Al-Katuf-1 well, with production at 7.6 million standard cubic feet per day of gas and 40 barrels per day of condensate. Additionally, the “Hanifa” reservoir in the “Asikra” field produced 4.9 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas, with the same well also yielding 0.6 million standard cubic feet per day of gas and 100 barrels of condensate from the “Al-Fadhili” reservoir.
