Iraqi American Zenovia Jafar expressed her elation at winning the Miss Arab USA 2024 pageant in Arizona on Sunday, calling it one of the best experiences of her life. In an interview with Arab News, Jafar shared that while winning was initially her main focus, the genuine connections and friendships she formed during the competition became priceless. She believes that her focus on building authentic relationships and being true to herself contributed to her victory.

Looking ahead, the Michigan resident plans to use her platform to raise awareness about issues affecting underdeveloped communities and to support charitable causes. Jafar’s family moved to the US in the late 90s, escaping the war in Iraq and spending two years in Syria before settling in America when she was a toddler. She credits her mother for ensuring she remained connected to her roots by teaching her to read, write, and speak Arabic.

Jafar advised young Arab American women to push their limits and step outside their comfort zones to foster personal growth. She emphasized the importance of staying connected to one’s roots and heritage, which she believes is crucial when growing up away from home.
